LMU MarComm

University Digital Platform & UI System

The Brief & Strategic Challenge

LMU MarComm leads Loyola Marymount University’s central communications, marketing, brand management, and external relations. The objective was to build a new website bringing these different departments into a single online hub. The challenge centered on organizing large volumes of content—ranging from news media and marketing materials to brand guidelines—into a clear, organized interface that serves internal university teams, media outlets, and external partners, as well as dynamic, progressive design that sets LMU apart as an innovator in higher education.

UX Architecture & Visual Interface Design

The design uses a structured bento box grid layout for both the wireframe (UX) and user interface (UI) design phases. This modular layout takes an innovative approach by challenging conventional responsive layouts, structurally providing separate zones for different content types. This creates a clean visual hierarchy that handles text-heavy media alongside bold photography without cluttering the screen. By anchoring the user path within this flexible grid, the interface cleanly moves between desktop and mobile screens while maintaining university brand standards, delivering an unexpected, highly engaging presentation of information.

The Outcome

While the website is currently awaiting official launch, the completed wireframes and user interface assets stand as a clear roadmap for the university's media and marketing strategy. The final project demonstrates how a flexible bento box design can successfully organize complex communication requirements, delivering a highly functional, innovative website layout that structures the university's assets for clear user engagement.
